Introducing Two Phase Orthodontics
Rusty Jones Orthodontics offers two-phase treatment to the areas of Peoria and Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Jones' two-phase orthodontic treatment is a very specialized process that encompasses jaw and facial changes and tooth straightening. The major advantage of two-phase treatment is to maximize the opportunity to accomplish the ideal healthy, functional, aesthetic, and comfortable result that will remain stable.
Interceptive Treatment (Phase I)

Because children grow rapidly, they can benefit enormously from an early phase of orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic appliances can be used to correct the jaw shape and direct the proper alignment of teeth. A good foundation can be established thereby providing adequate room for eruption of all the permanent teeth.
Early interceptive treatment can prevent:
1) The later removal of permanent teeth to correct over-crowding.
2) Surgical procedures to align the upper and lower jaws.
A successful first phase will have created enough room for the teeth to find an adequate eruption path and prevent possible impaction and displacement problems. Often, retention and/or tooth guidance appliances may be recommended at the end of the first phase to maintain the results.
Corrective Treatment (Phase II)
The second phase is initiated when most of the permanent teeth have erupted and usually requires braces on all of the teeth for an average of 12-18 months. Retainers are worn after this phase to hold the teeth in their corrected positions.
With good home care and retainer wear your teeth should stay healthy, stable, comfortable, and look attractive. This is the goal of the second, corrective phase of treatment.
Clear or Metal Braces?
Rusty Jones Orthodontics offers traditional metal braces as option for braces. For those patients who are interested in more subtle orthodontic treatment and a more aesthetic look, Dr. Jones offers ceramic coated braces in addition to the traditional metal braces. The various options in braces offered by Dr. Jones provide the people of Phoenix and Peoria, AZ the flexibility to find orthodontic care that fits their lifestyle.
